The Talking Tree
The Talking Tree is one of the essential features of the Essaouira Gnaoua and World Music Festival. On a rooftop in the heart of the Essaouira medina, the Talking Tree is a quiet moment of the day, a time-out before we are off to enjoy music and live concerts.
Created in 2006, this friendly forum for dialogue and exchange renews itself every year at the Institut Français d’Essaouira. Artists, cultural activists, Gnaoua and musicians gather around a coffee or glass of tea to share and exchange openly with festivalgoers. The event is moderated each year by its originator Emmanuelle Honorin, journalist and director of world music at Geo Magazine.
