Maâlem Said Oughessal, one of biggest talents of his generation, will connect with the trio composed of Dave Holland (bass), Zakir Hussain (tablas), and Chris Potter (saxophone). Dave Holland is a fundamental element in the evolution of contemporary jazz. He has shared musical adventures with masters such as Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny and many others. A fusion of Gnaoui and Andalusian roots
Maâlem and artistic director Abdeslam Alikkane will take the stage with bassist Pepe Bao, a major musician from the Spanish music scene who co-directed alongside Andreas Lutz the group O’Funk’illo, and collaborated for many years with avec Raimundo Amador, Obús, Barón Rojo, and Medina Azahara.

While Asma Hamzaoui plays the guembri in defiance of social taboo, Fatoumata Diawara sings on despite the prohibition of music imposed by northern Mali islamists. Asma Hamzaoui upholds tradition with a personal touch, and Fatoumata Diawara is preserving her African heritage, taking inspiration from the tradition of Wassoulou songs.
